Officials with Woodlands County are warning Anselmo area residents of the presence of a grizzly bear and cubs that were spotted near the Anselmo transfer station recently.
Residents are being urged to exercise extreme caution in the area when outside with pets and children and to familiarize themselves with Alberta BearSmart practices.
People are strongly urged to not approach the bear if you see it. Call 911 in an emergency.
Experts say that even though bear attacks are rare, they often result in serious injury or death. If this happens, the bear will likely be located and destroyed.
