Staff Sergeant Matthew Clark has been hired as the new detachment commander of Whitecourt RCMP, this after serving as the acting detachment commander since 2023.
“I am very pleased and excited to have been chosen as the detachment commander in Whitecourt and to lead a motivated and dedicated team of regular members and support staff,” said S/Sgt. Clarke. “I look forward to continuing to build positive relationships with the community and focus on supporting our local policing priorities of crime prevention, community engagement and traffic safety.”
Originally from Alberta, Clarke lived in Calgary and Sylvan Lake before joining the RCMP.
He is in his 20th year of policing and all his service has been within “K” Division (Alberta).
Clarke has previously been posted in Peace River, Whitecourt and units within the Edmonton Serious Crimes Branch including Edmonton General Investigation Section, Historical Homicide and Behavioural Sciences.
He returned to Whitecourt in 2021 as the Sergeant in Charge of Operations.
