The Town of Mayerthorpe has appointed a new Chief Administrative Officer.
During their regular meeting on April 8, 2024, council appointed Chris Leggett as the Town’s new CAO.
Leggett is described as an experienced Chief Administrative Officer having gained considerable experience working for the Village of Pouce Coupe in northeastern British Columbia and, most recently, the Town of Vegreville, AB. Leggett is also described as having a strong financial background and is a University Certified Local Government Administrator, Certified Local Government Financial Advisor and Certified Local Government Human Resources Administrator.
Town officials say Leggett grew up on a family farm in eastern Canada, started his career in banking, and transitioned to local government approximately 10 years ago. He’s married and has a blended family with five children. When not in the office, Town officials say Leggett and his family can often be found riding motocross and enjoying the great outdoors.
“Council and I are thrilled to welcome Chris to our hard-working little team,” says Town of Mayerthorpe Mayor Janet Jabush. “When he arrived for his in-person interview, we were struck by his easy-going demeanor, his up-beat personality and, believe it or not, the fact that he wore jeans. More than one councillor remarked that ‘he fits right in with his jeans and his pick-up truck.’ We’re looking forward to working with Chris and excited to see the positive impacts he’ll have on our community.”
