According to officials with the Town of Whitecourt, Festival Park Pond is now closed for winter recreational use.
With the warm weather in recent days, experts say the ice conditions on the pond at Festival Park have deteriorated and the ice is no longer safe for recreational use
Residents are being asked to obey all “Thin Ice” signs as well as any other posted warnings.
Whitecourt residents are also being reminded that as of last week, all outdoor rinks as well as the Skating Loop at Festival Park are now closed for the season.
Town officials say the countdown is now on for the May long weekend when the Splash Park and River Slides are scheduled to open for the summer.
