The Town of Edson says it is pleased to announce the reopening of the Edson and District Leisure Centre at 3:00 p.m. today.
Officials say several incidents contributed to the closure, including threats made against the facility that caused concern. Town officials say the safety of patrons and staff is always a top priority and that the closure was a necessary precaution to assess the situation and the matter is now with the RCMP.
Staff say they also experienced a mechanical breakdown with the ice resurfacer. However, they also say repairs are underway, and a backup machine is available to ensure continued service.
The Town of Edson would like to sincerely thank patrons for their understanding and patience as these challenges were resolved.
