The reeve of Woodlands County has stepped down from his post.
The move came following a special meeting of council held June 14, 2023 to discuss the Council Code of Conduct during a closed session, in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
Woodlands County officials say council carried the following motion at the conclusion of the closed session, “That Reeve Burrows writes a letter of apology to the Chief Administrative Officer, staff, and Councillor Williams.”
John Burrows announced that he stepped down as reeve of Woodlands County, effective immediately.
Woodlands County council appointed Dave Kusch, Councillor, Division 1 – Anselmo as reeve for the remainder of the term, to the municipality’s Organizational Meeting in October 2023.
Bruce Prestidge, Councillor, Division 5 – Blue Ridge is appointed as deputy reeve, per council’s deputy reeve rotation schedule, through June 26, 2024.
