An Evacuation Order remains in place for parts of Yellowhead County on Friday.
According to Alberta Emergency Alert, the Evacuation Order is for residents south of Township Rd 560 on the East Bank Rd and west to the McLeod River.
Everyone in the impacted area must remain evacuated. If you’re unsure if you should evacuate, call 1-833-334-4630. A reception centre is at the Evansburg Arena.
Evacuees are reminded to follow the directions of local authorities, bring important documents, medication, and supplies, and to take pets with you.
Dawn Mitchell, Deputy Mayor of Yellowhead County, said the main message to residents is to be prepared.
“The Wildfires within our region are more of a concern with the wind and dry weather. We are monitoring the situation closely. Residents could be sure to watch our website and Facebook feed for accurate updates.”
Officials with Yellowhead County say an Evacuee Reception Centre is now open at the Pembina Rec Plex in Evansburg (the Evansburg Arena). The address is 4712 52 Avenue in Evansburg, Alberta.
The Reception Centre is open to any evacuees who wish to go there, however it is *not* necessary if you have made your own arrangements. Please remember to register at 1-833-334-4630 *or* at the Reception Centre, whichever is more convenient for you.
Please note: The Reception Centre at the Peers Multiplex is now closed.
Meantime, Yellowhead County has issued an Evacuation ALERT ADVISORY for Peers, Rosevear, and southeast of Bear Lake.
The Evacuation Alert area is from Highway 32 including the Hamlet of Peers, west along Township 541A into Township 542 to Rosevear Rd (Rge Rd 154), north to Highway 748 and following Highway 748 back to Highway 32.
