The Whitecourt Wolverines edged the Devon Xtreme 2-1 on Saturday, Oct. 24.
Held in the GFL Twin Arena, the Xtreme opened the scoring to gain a 1-0 lead in period one.
No goals were scored in the second, although two minor penalties at the end of the frame put Whitecourt on the man advantage to start period three.
At 1:19, Wolverine Spencer Claerhout tied things up 1-1. Jackson DeGraves and Taite Donkin assisted.
Kyle Tucker netted another powerplay goal for Whitecourt just 33 seconds later. The helpers went to DeGraves and Ty Rayan, and the Wolverines held on to the 2-1 lead until the buzzer.
With 12 points, the 6-6 Wolverines are still fourth in the AJHL North Division, now just ahead of the 5-7 Devon Xtreme.
Next, the Wolverines are on the road again. On Oct. 30, they visit Olds to take on the Grizzlys and on Oct. 31, they face the Drumheller Dragons.
