Woodlands County is hosting two free drop-in sessions to help residents understand what to expect before, during and after an evacuation.
The events are facilitated by the Alberta Emergency Management Agency. Alberta Wildfire, FireSmart Alberta and Fortis Alberta will also be in attendance to answer questions and provide resources.
Attendees will learn:
- The difference between an evacuation alert and an evacuation order
- What supports may be available through Emergency Social Services (ESS)
- Why registering as an evacuee is important
- How to prepare a 72-hour emergency kit
- Tips for creating a household evacuation plan
The events run from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Oct. 27 and Oct. 28. The first takes place at Topland Hall in Woodlands County, and the second at the Forestry Interpretive Centre in Whitecourt. No registration is required to attend.
