A Whitecourt resident was recently arrested following multiple alleged condition breaches.
On Sept. 11, Whitecourt RCMP Traffic Services members were conducting highway patrols near the town and checked a location where copper wire had reportedly been stripped.
While investigating the area, officers say they located a suspicious vehicle occupied by two individuals. Police conducted a traffic stop and identified one of the individuals as a prolific offender who had been released from custody on unrelated charges.
Through their investigation, they also found the individual appeared to be breaching court-ordered release conditions and was subsequently arrested. During the arrest, officers allegedly found a small amount of suspected crystal methamphetamine and a can of bear spray.
The individual was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody, but was released with conditions on Sept. 15.
On Sept. 18, Alberta RCMP Traffic Services members were requested to assist a Whitecourt RCMP officer during a traffic stop. When they arrived, police identified the same offender, who was again allegedly failing to comply with his release conditions. He was arrested, and police reportedly found drugs and bear spray on his person once again.
As a result, a Whitecourt resident has been charged with:
- Weapons-related charges (x4)
- Failure to comply with release order (x4)
- Driving while unauthorized
- Possession of a controlled substance
- One Cannabis Act-related charge
He was remanded into custody and is to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Whitecourt on Oct. 13.

RCMP Traffic-Whitecourt Unit. “The quick actions of our members helped identify repeated breaches and remove an offender from the community.”
