Alberta Health Services (AHS) reports that the Edson Healthcare Centre Emergency Department will be without onsite physician coverage from 3 p.m. on Aug. 23 to 8 a.m. on Aug. 24.
AHS notes that a virtual emergency physician is scheduled to support part of the shift, and nursing staff will also remain on-site to provide triage, assessments and referrals to other emergency departments as needed.
During this time, patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency. Community members can also call Health Link at 811 for non-emergency, health-related questions.
AHS officials say this is a temporary measure, and the organization is working to secure coverage. If coverage is found, the disruption will be cancelled.
