Whitecourt RCMP have charged two people in connection with a shooting that allegedly happened at a local gas station on Jan. 22, 2026.
As a result of the investigation that has taken place since, two people were arrested, then charged on July 29.
Mike Lourenco, 48, of Whitecourt, and Kyle Thebeau, 41, of Woodlands County, face the following charges:
- Discharge of a firearm while being reckless;
- Pointing a firearm;
- Careless use of a firearm;
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
- Unauthorized possession in a motor vehicle;
- Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition.
Lourenco and Thebeau were brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. They are to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Whitecourt on Aug. 4.
