A temporary closure of the tennis courts on the Pembina Hills Schools grounds in the Town of Barrhead has been postponed.
The courts were scheduled to close Aug. 1 for upgrades, but due to ongoing wet conditions, the closure has been postponed to mid-August.
The closure is expected to be in effect for four weeks, weather permitting, as the work occurs.
During the closure, two of the three tennis courts will be resurfaced, while the third is converted into four new pickleball courts. The town is also installing fencing and replacing the net posts.
Officials say the upgrades are being made to accommodate a growing pickleball demand, resulting in two upgraded tennis courts and four pickleball courts once the project is complete.
An official reopening date will be confirmed closer to the end of construction.
