The first nine holes of the Whitecourt Golf and Country Club are closed until further notice, likely for several days.
A tornado warning was issued for the Whitecourt region July 28, and while no tornado touched down, extreme winds reportedly caused damage at the golf course.
Witnesses say about 25 trees appear to be downed as a result.
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada data, wind gusts yesterday evening reached a maximum of 75 km/h heading west-southwest.
