Tennis courts on the Pembina Hills Schools grounds in the Town of Barrhead close Aug. 1 for upgrades.
The town says the courts, located at the northeast corner of the grounds, will be closed for about four weeks, weather permitting.
During the closure, two of the three tennis courts will be resurfaced, while the third is converted into four new pickleball courts. The town is also installing fencing and replacing the net posts.
Officials say the upgrades are being made to accommodate a growing pickleball demand, resulting in two upgraded tennis courts and four pickleball courts once the project is complete.
An official reopening date will be confirmed closer to the end of construction.
