Two gas power plant developments by Teton Digital are planned for northern Alberta.
According to the June update of the Alberta Major Projects Dashboard, Teton Digital intends to construct a new gas power plant about 35 kilometres south of Fox Creek and a power generation facility about 19 kilometres south of Swan Hills.
The Swan Hills development, titled the Black Bear Power Project, should result in 466 megawatts (MW) of natural-gas combined-cycle power generation, with about 2,500 acres of adjacent land permitted and engineered for data centre development.
Officials say the project will support a defined pathway to approximately three gigawatts (GW) across one or more campuses.
The anticipated cost of the project is $1.3 billion, and is expected to be completed by Q3 of 2028.
Near Fox Creek, the Northern Forge Power Project should generate about 200 MW of electricity, also to support a data centre, as well as grid sales.
The project is expected to cost $500 million and should also be completed by 2028.
Both projects are in the proposal stage.
