Down 3-1 in their seven-game series against the Canmore Eagles, the Whitecourt Wolverines have their backs against the wall after a loss on Wednesday night.
The Wolverines fell 5-3 to the Eagles at the Canmore Recreation Centre on April 22.
Canmore opened the scoring with a powerplay goal at 7:55 for a 1-0 lead.
Wolverine Braden Nienaber fired back with his first of the playoffs at 14:52 to tie it up 1-1. He was assisted by Chayse King.
The Eagles netted two more in the second frame for a 3-1 lead. Period three saw that jump to 4-1 just 22 seconds in, then to 5-1 at 3:52.
Ty Rayan gained back some momentum for Whitecourt with a powerplay goal at 6:19 to make it 5-2. The helpers went to Billy Hooson and Cole Barrett.
Then at 14:16, Jalen Bianchet and Quentin Bourne assisted Kyle Tucker with his fourth post-season goal to finish the game 5-3.
The Wolverines are back in JDA Place at 7 p.m. on April 25 for game five of the league finals.
