According to an audited 2025 Financial Statement, Barrhead County finished the year with higher revenues and lower expenses than budgeted, resulting in $1.6 million in excess revenue.
For 2025, the previous Barrhead County council estimated $14.1 million in revenue and $16.9 million in expenses.
Actual revenues came in at $14.5 million, plus $1.9 million in contributed assets, government transfers for capital and gains on tangible capital asset disposal, while actual expenses came in at $14.7 million.
Revenues from penalties and costs on taxes, as well as licences and permits, were notably higher than budgeted. At the same time, transportation, water and wastewater, planning and development and agriculture expenses were lower than expected.
In 2025, $11.1 million was collected in net municipal taxes, up slightly from the projected $11 million in the budget.
The auditor, Greilach Lussier LLP, also found the county’s financial statements to fairly present its financial position in all material aspects.
County council received the auditor’s report and approved the 2025 audited Financial Statement and 2025 audited Financial Information Return during its regularly scheduled meeting on April 7. The documents will also be posted to the county’s website.
