Lac Ste. Anne County council has approved the property tax rate for 2026 with a two percent decrease to the residential rate and a 2.75 per cent decrease to the non-residential rate.
The county says this decision reflects its commitment to fiscal responsibility, long-term sustainability and maintaining the services residents rely on.
“From day one, this council has been focused on making thoughtful, responsible decisions on behalf of our residents,” said Reeve Jurgen Preugschas. “Passing the 2026 Tax Rate Bylaw demonstrates our commitment to living within our means, protecting essential services, and planning for the future without placing unnecessary burden on taxpayers.”
Approval of the bylaw followed a collaborative budget process that saw council review service levels, identify efficiencies and focus spending on community priorities.
“This bylaw is the result of extensive work across the entire organization. Our staff carefully analyzed financial pressures, identified efficiencies, and provided council with the information necessary to make informed decisions,” commented CAO Ann Mitchell. “I want to sincerely thank our team for their professionalism, diligence and commitment to serving Lac Ste. Anne County.”
This is the first tax rate bylaw approved by the newly elected council.
Despite the decrease in the municipal tax rates, residents may still see a higher bill due to increased provincial requisitions, which are collected by the county on behalf of the Government of Alberta.
