Two Edson residents have been arrested following an alleged home invasion with a firearm.
On April 5 at about 9:20 a.m., Edson RCMP responded to a 911 report of the invasion. When members arrived at the scene, the suspects had already left.
Police say their investigation revealed that the suspects broke into the residence and demanded money while holding what was described as a sawed-off shotgun. Witnesses reported that a round had been fired into a closet door before four suspects left the residence.
Shortly after, two of the four suspects were located at a different Edson residence, prompting a heavy police presence in the Sunset Mobile Trailer Park. Both suspects were arrested, one of which was allegedly the shooter.
As a result, two Edson residents were arrested and charged.
Chance Ryan Desjarlais, 37-years-old, was charged with 11 offences, including break and enter and recklessly discharging a firearm. He was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody, to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Edson on April 9.
William Christipher Procter, 44-years-old, was charged with break and enter, mischief and using a firearm in the commission of an offence. He was released on an undertaking, to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Edson, also on April 9.
The Edson RCMP say this was a targeted incident, as the victim and suspects knew each other. It adds, the firearm was recovered, and no one was injured.
Otherwise, the detachment is still searching for two potential suspects in relation to the incident. If you have any information, please contact the Edson RCMP at 780-723-8800.
