The Whitecourt Wolverines added two more points to their point total this season after doubling up on the Grande Prairie Storm 4-2 Friday night.
Whitecourt hit the board first when Kyle Tucker scored his 20th of the season at 1:53, thanks to assists from Tristan Slywka and Brendan Ruskowski to make it 1-0.
The Wolverines then pulled ahead 2-0 when Mason Russell scored his 10th of the season at 10:45, thanks to an assist from Parker Fitzgerald.
Grande Prairie scored the only goal of the second period to make it 2-1 in favour of Whitecourt after 40 minutes.
The third period saw Whitecourt add to their lead 3-1 when Tyler Pretty scored his 10th of the season at 8:21, with Quentin Bourne and Jalen Bianchet chipping in with the assists.
The Storm responded with a goal of their own at 13:36, however, to make it a 3-2 game.
The Wolverines would seal the deal with an empty net goal at 19:08 though to make it a 4-2 final.
Grande Prairie outshot Whitecourt 35-29.
The win improves the Wolverines record to 37-12-1-2 on the season so far, good for fist place in the AJHL’s North Division.
Whitecourt’s next game is Tuesday, March 10, in Calgary against the Canucks.
