The Whitecourt Wolverines shutout the Grande Prairie Storm 2-0 on March 3.
There was no scoring and no penalties in period one.
Then, just 37 seconds into the second frame, Xander Schulte netted one for Whitecourt. He was assisted by Brendan Ruskowski and Spencer Claerhout for his 10th goal of the season.
At 7:23, Jalen Bianchet scored on a powerplay for Whitecourt’s 2-0 lead. The helpers went to Tyler Pretty and Ruskowski again.
Although no one scored, tensions rose in period three, with players on both sides earning roughing or cross-checking minors.
Wolverine goalie Elliott Pratt stopped all 27 shots on goal.
With the win, Whitecourt is leading the AJHL North Division, five points ahead of the Grande Prairie Storm.
