The Whitecourt Wolverines saw mixed success on the road this weekend, finding victory in Olds but struggling to hit the mark in Drumheller.
Friday night, they defeated the Olds Grizzlys 3-1.
Xander Schulte scored first for Whitecourt at 1:31, with assistance from Brendan Ruskowski and Tyler Pretty.
Braden Neinaber bumped that lead to 2-0 at 14:53 with his fourth goal of the regular season. Parker Fitzgerald and Alex Symes got the helpers.
In period two, Mason Russell and Tristan Slywka assisted Ty Rayan in securing a 3-0 lead.
Olds scored once in period three though, for a 3-1 final score.

Then on Saturday, the team fell 5-2 to the Drumheller Dragons.
No team scored in period one, despite plenty of powerplay opportunities following holding, hooking, roughing and unsportsmanlike conduct minors on both sides. Wolverine Jager Gugyelka’s two minutes in the box carried over into the second frame, and the Dragons scored on the powerplay.
Nolan Schmidt answered for Whitecourt at 6:49 for a 1-1 tie. Tristan Slywka and Jackson DeGraves assisted.
Drumheller netted two more before the end of the frame to lead 3-1 going into period three.
Xander Schulte scored on a powerplay at 6:05 to narrow the Dragons’ lead to 3-2. Jalen Bianchet and Quentin Bourne assisted on the play.
Drumheller scored two more times, including a shorthanded goal, before the buzzer sounded for a 5-2 finish.
Despite the loss, the Wolverines remain in first place in the AJHL North Division with a record of 35-12-1-2, three points ahead of the Grande Prairie Storm.
