Canada Post says its Edson office is still closed, but in the meantime, it’s temporarily moving operations to a new location on 1 Avenue.
A water leak from a neighbouring tenant required the post office to close at the end of January, and the organization says repairs are expected to take months to complete. For now, it is moving its retail and mail operations to 5029/5031 1 Avenue in Edson, approximately 600 metres from the building at 422 50 Street.
Canada Post says mail delivery has resumed from this temporary location. Workers are starting with the most recent mail, to remain current, but staff have also been working on the backlog of mail held at a processing facility in Edmonton since January 29.
Customers who had a PO box at the 50 Street location can pick up their mail from the new location starting Feb. 17, 2026. These customers are asked to bring government-issued photo identification to pick up their mail.
The organization anticipates offering retail services starting Feb. 23, with service hours running 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. Until the new office is fully operational for retail, residents can access postal services at the Edson Convenience Store (5609 13 Avenue).
