A local music artist duo is seeking community support for their entry to the Alberta Dreams Song Search 2026.
The Alberta Dreams Foundation is a non-profit organization that aims to create moments of joy, hope and everlasting memories for children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses, and their families. Since 1986, it’s granted 1,250 dream experiences.
This year, it invited Country Music Alberta members to create a new anthem for the organization: one that captures “the heart, hope and magic” behind the charity. Submissions are shared online, and Albertans are invited to vote for their favourite.
Local artists Nic and Finley Melnychuk have entered their song, “Alberta Dreams,” into the competition.
“This would be a huge dream of mine come true,” said Finley. “I would love for our song to be the Alberta Dreams anthem, and it would be such a huge opportunity for us. We would be so honoured.”
The three submissions with the most votes will move on to a performance at the West Edmonton Mall. From there, the grand prize winner will be chosen.
The grand prize pack includes a performance at Big Valley Jamboree, a professional recording of the winning Alberta Dreams song, a behind-the-scenes video and performance opportunities with Country Music Alberta and Alberta Dreams.
Voting ends on Feb. 6.
