Earthquakes Canada reports that an earthquake occurred 43 km west-northwest of Swan Hills on Feb. 1.
The 4.6 magnitude earthquake occurred at 10:41 a.m. on Sunday.
According to Earthquakes Canada, seven reports have been received from Swan Hills residents, indicating that weak shaking was felt in the area. Residents of the Swan River First Nation and Slave Lake areas also reported weak shaking.
Officials say tremors could be lightly felt as far as Fort McMurray, but there were no reports of damage, and none were expected.
The largest recorded earthquake for the region reached a magnitude of 6.1 in 2022.
