The Town of Barrhead reports that a bobcat has recently been seen in the community.
The town says that while bobcats usually avoid people, they can be dangerous if approached, startled, or if they feel threatened, especially if pets or children are nearby.
If you do see one, the town advises you to:
- Give it lots of space (no photos up close)
- Keep pets leashed and close to home
- Never try to feed or approach it
If the bobcat does not move along on its own, or is acting aggressively, please contact Fish and Wildlife at (780) 674-8236 Ext. 1.
“Let’s admire this spicy little kitty from a very respectful distance and help keep both residents and wildlife safe – just don’t try to make it Instagram-famous first!” town officials ask.
