On Wednesday this week, an intense Alberta clipper brought strong winds and snow across Alberta, with many communities seeing heavy amounts of snowfall.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) says Edson recorded seven centimetres of snow that day.
Elsewhere, accumulation reached as high as 15 centimetres in Banff and 11 centimetres in Edmonton and Campsie.
Strong winds and blowing snow also caused near zero visibility for three to five hours, causing hazardous travel conditions on all highways in southern Alberta. Between Airdrie and Calgary, 80-100 vehicles were involved in a collision, prompting a closure to a major highway for most of the day.
Winds reached a peak of 131 km/h in Onefour, 126 km/h in Waterton and 113 km/h in Lethbridge.
