A Whitecourt resident has been arrested following an investigation into alleged drug trafficking in the area.
In November, Whitecourt RCMP received information from the community about individuals who may have been trafficking drugs. The Whitecourt RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) then took over the case.
On Dec. 12, Whitecourt RCMP GIS and regular members executed a search warrant and arrested two people at the address. Police say the search revealed 15 doses (approximately one gram each) of methamphetamine pre-packaged for sale and drug trafficking paraphernalia.
As a result, a 38-year-old Whitecourt resident was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession for the purpose of trafficking. He was brought before a justice of the peace, released on conditions, and is to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Whitecourt on Jan. 13, 2026.
A second individual was arrested as well, but charges are still pending.
