The Edson and District Leisure Centre pool is temporarily closed due to a failed provincial water test, which detected Pseudomonas bacteria.
This is a naturally occurring bacteria found in soil and water, and officials suspect changes in layout as construction continues could have contributed to the increase in dirt entering the pool. Staff are actively working to address the situation.
As a result, evening swimming lessons are cancelled for Nov. 25-26, but the pool is expected to reopen at 3 p.m. on Nov. 27.
To help prevent future contamination, users are asked to take a cleansing shower before entering the pool and remove outdoor footwear before entering the change rooms and pool deck.
