A truck stolen out of Edson has been recovered following an arrest by Hinton RCMP.
On Nov. 18, Hinton RCMP observed a pickup truck with a damaged headlight. When members started to approach the vehicle, the driver allegedly blew a stop sign and tried to evade police, who followed the vehicle.
It reportedly entered a park and was abandoned in the trees down a trail, where the driver then fled on foot. The RCMP Remote Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) was utilized to locate the suspect.
As a result, a 34-year-old Hinton resident has been arrested and charged with:
- Possession of stolen property over $5,000
- Driving while prohibited
- Failure to comply with probation order
He was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody, and was scheduled to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Cache on Nov. 20.
