The Whitecourt Curling Club welcomes the community to join it in celebrating its 75th anniversary this weekend.
Friday, Nov. 7, attendees can enjoy curling demonstrations, a meet and greet and appetizers. The get-together runs 6-11 p.m., with demonstrations running 7-9 p.m.
Saturday, another meeting runs 3-11 p.m. Curling demonstrations will run again from 3:30-5:30 p.m., followed by a dinner. After dinner, there will be presentations, awards, prizes and a social.
“It is simply amazing in this day and age,” commented Jim Harris, club president. “There’s been a lot of clubs closing down over the last five, 10 years, and we’re surviving.”
There is no cost to attend, but organizers ask those who can to bring a curling item from the past to contribute to the club’s display.
The Saturday dinner is limited to 100 guests, and that capacity has nearly been reached, but the curling demonstrations are open to all.
It all takes place at the Carbonex Contractors Centre (Curling Rink).
