The École Pine Grove Middle School in Edson has a new assistant principal.
Amanda Robinson Petrie is originally from B.C., where she earned a bachelor of science in chemical biology with a minor in business management from Thompson Rivers University, followed by a bachelor of education in math and science from UBC Okanagan.
She began teaching at High Level Public School, then joined the Grande Yellowhead Public School Division (GYPSD) for the 2024-25 school year as an itinerant substitute teacher for the Edson zone, which connected her with staff and families in all four local schools.
As such, Petrie said she has already built relationships with many staff and students, and she looks forward to fostering a safe, inclusive, caring and respectful school culture.
