The Whitecourt Wolverines found success on home ice last night, beating the Lloydminster Bobcats 3-1.
Bobcat Jadon Iyogun opened the action at 4:36 with his eighth goal of the season. He was assisted by Kael Screpnek and Quinn Keeler in gaining the 1-0 lead.
Then at 13:19, Mason Russell and Nathan Hawkins helped Tristan Slywka score to tie it up 1-1.
The second frame started off slow, but things picked up after 13:39, when Bobcat Luke Dooley took a minor for goalie interference, putting Whitecourt on the powerplay. At 14:49, Jalen Bianchet capitalized and netted another for the Wolverines, with the helper going to Tyler Pretty.
At the same moment, Lloydminster’s Jaxan Hopko earned himself a 10-minute misconduct penalty.
The Wolverines battled out the third frame with a 2-1 lead, and it wasn’t until 19:10 that Kyle Tucker took advantage of an empty net and secured the team’s 3-1 win.
The Whitecourt Wolverines still lead the AJHL North Division, now with 22 points, and the Bobcats trail six points behind in second place.
