The Town of Edson has released the official results of its municipal election, which took place on Oct. 20.
Incumbent Mayor Kevin Zahara ran unopposed and was acclaimed for another term at the end of September.
Edson’s next council will include: Peter Taylor, who received 958 votes; Corrie Wilson-Leier, who acquired 953; Shawn Holden, with 912 votes; Pat Fogarty, with 868; Al Schram, who received 833 votes; and Greg Pasychny, with 691 votes.
Taylor and Pasychny were incumbent candidates who served on council in the last term.
Incumbent candidate Gean Chouinard narrowly missed reelection, with five votes less than Pasychny.
The town says 1,594 valid ballots were cast — a voter turnout of about 29 per cent.
Election results were confirmed at noon on Friday, Oct. 24.
The new town council will be sworn into office at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 28. Then, at 7 p.m., councillors will attend a brief organizational meeting, followed by the first regular meeting of council; two grant applications are on the agenda.
