Two residents, one from Edson and one from Airdrie, have been arrested on multiple charges following a traffic stop.
On Oct. 7, around 9:20 a.m., an officer from the Edson RCMP detachment pulled over a vehicle in Edson for a minor traffic violation. During the stop, the officer reportedly observed brass knuckles and other suspicious items inside the vehicle, prompting a search of it and the occupants.
RCMP report finding:
- 136 grams of methamphetamine
- Three grams of cocaine
- Six brass knuckles
- A loaded .22 caliber rifle
- A loaded restricted shotgun
- A 7mm rifle
As a result, a 36-year-old Airdrie resident and a 45-year-old Edson resident were arrested and charged with 25 offences and 19 offences, respectively. The charges include:
- Possession of controlled substances
- Careless use of a firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
Both individuals were brought before a justice of the peace. The Airdrie resident was remanded into custody while the Edson resident was released on conditions. They are to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Edson on Oct. 21, 2025.
