It was an unusually cold Thanksgiving in Alberta this year, with the Edson area setting a new cold temperature record.
On Oct. 13, Edson recorded a new record of -12.4 C. The previous daily minimum temperature record for the area was -10.7 C, set in 1992.
Records for this area have been kept since 1916, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada.
The Hendrickson Creek area reached a low of -21.8 C, beating the previous 2017 record of -18.5 C.
Records for this area date back to 1995.
Elsewhere, the Red Deer area reached -12.7 C, compared to -10.8 C in 2021. Jasper saw a low of -9.9 C, compared to the -8.3 C record set in 1930.
