In his role as parliamentary secretary for economic corridor development, Lac Ste. Anne—Parkland MLA Shane Getson is travelling to the U.S. in an effort to promote stronger trade corridors across the Pacific Northwest.
Getson will be in Portland, Ore., to join state legislators, officials and business leaders for the Pacific NorthWest Economic Region (PNWER) Build Northwest Economic Forum and Rail Summit running Oct. 14-17.
As part of the summit, Getson will moderate a discussion on the role of regional collaboration in strengthening cross-border freight corridors. The session will cover strategies for enhancing rail, road, port and pipeline routes between Canada and the U.S.
The PNWER was established in 1991 to advance the economic well-being and quality of life of its 10 members, including the U.S. states of Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, Montana and Washington; the Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan; and the Yukon and Northwest Territories.
Mission expenses will be shared online, and this itinerary is subject to change.
