Brendan Ruskowski, Jalen Bianchet and Elliott Pratt were the Whitecourt Wolverines’ three stars on Oct. 8.
Wednesday night, a home game against the Bonnyville Pontiacs saw Whitecourt dominate 7-0.
Period one action took off after Pontiac Brent Hoshowski took a cross-checking minor at 9:41, giving Tyler Pretty a chance at a power play goal. He was assisted by Mason Russell and Ty Rayan.
Bonnyville was back in the box at 14:47 after Deegan Kinniburgh was called for hooking. With 42 seconds left in the power play, Wolverine Jalen Bianchet, assisted by Brendan Ruskowski and Cole Barrett, scored his ninth season goal to bring it to 2-0.
In the second, Brendan Ruskowski netted two more for a 4-0 lead. Quentin Bourne assisted at 11:39, while Kyle Tucker and Spencer Claerhout supported Ruskowski’s power play goal at 16:00.
With 15 seconds left in the period, Jalen Bianchet scored a solo goal for the teams to finish 5-0.
Frame three saw another successful shot from Ruskowski at 7:11, his sixth goal of the season.
Exactly 10 seconds later, Wyatt Ball secured the Wolverines’ 7-0 lead with his first season point. Kyle Tucker and Matt Williams got the helpers.
Over the course of the game, Whitecourt’s goalie Elliot Pratt blocked 30 shots on the goal.
The Wolverines are back on home ice again on Saturday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. to face the Camrose Kodiaks.
