The month of September marks Culture Days in Alberta, a month-long celebration of art, music, dance, food and more.
Last year, 247,000 residents attended events across the province. This year, to get even more people out, the government says it’s awarded $380,000 in grants to support 111 organizations in 48 communities to host their events.
It’s also offering free admission to its 20 provincially owned museums, historic sites and archives on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 27-28.
Throughout the month, the following Culture Days events are happening around your region:
Barrhead
The Shepherd’s Care Foundation is hosting three events this month. They all take place in person at 5236 59 Avenue.
- Wednesday, Sept. 10: Celtic Entertainment by Norman Rice at 2 p.m.
- Wednesday, Sept.17: Bollywood Dance with Ananta Dance at 2 p.m.
- Monday, Sept. 22: (Interactive) Drumming Circle with Judy Cooper at 10:30 a.m.
Onoway
On Saturday, Sept. 20, the Onoway and District Historical Guild will host the 18th annual Fall Harvest Festival at the Onoway Museum and Heritage Centre.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., this family friendly event will celebrate the region’s agricultural heritage with live music, kids’ games, threshing and blacksmithing demonstrations, local vendors and other activities.
