Thanks to recent precipitation, the fire danger level in the Grande Prairie Forest Area is now moderate.
At this time, all fire bans and restrictions have been rescinded for the GPFA, but fire restrictions remain in place for both the City and County.
However, Alberta Wildfire does want residents to still follow safe burning practices as wildfires can still spread, such as the soak, stir, soak again method when putting out a blaze.
Currently, in the Peace Region, three wildfires continue to burn, with two listed as out of control; the Hamelin Creek wildfire and another south of the City, with a combined estimated size of over 32,000 hectares.
As for the Kiskatinaw River Wildfire, it is now listed as being held and has been pushed back across the B.C. border.
All evacuation alerts for residents residing east of the border have been rescinded.
