The Town of Edson reports the Edson and District Leisure Centre is facing challenges beyond the construction of the YCE Multiplex, and as a result, will be temporarily closed next week.
There will be a brief maintenance closure from June 15-18 to complete important repair work, including replacing a cracked flange and ensuring continued safe operations of the facility.
Officials say all active memberships will be paused during this period so users don’t lose time on their passes.
Beyond this closure, aging mechanical systems may require frequent reactive maintenance and adjustments to maintain functionality. These challenges could result in further unplanned service interruptions.
The YCE Multiplex will fully replace this facility once construction is complete, with the entire project expected to be constructed by the end of 2027.
The town says in the meantime, the aquatics team is doing everything they can to minimize disruptions and keep services running smoothly.
