Whitecourt residents are being encouraged to reduce, reuse and recycle during the Town’s “Take It or Leave It” weekend, running May 17 and 18.
The initiative invites homeowners to place unwanted — but still usable — items at the front of their properties, offering them up for free to neighbours and passersby. It’s being described as a community-wide garage sale, without the price tags.
Items should be clearly marked “FREE” using stickers or masking tape so people know what’s up for grabs. Residents are responsible for removing anything left behind by the end of the day on Sunday, May 19.
Town officials say the campaign is part of a broader effort to encourage waste reduction and community sharing. Participants are reminded to respect each other’s property and to avoid driving on lawns or park space while browsing curbside offerings.
Whitecourt has hosted similar events in past years to promote environmental awareness and community connection.
