The Conservative candidate for the Peace River – Westlock riding, Arnold Viersen, was re-elected to Parliament in the federal election on Monday, April 28.
Viersen received 41,027 votes, which works out to 76.9 per cent of the votes cast in the riding.
In a statement provided to media, Viersen thanked his supporters and promised to continue to work hard to represent their priorities at a national level.
“It is an incredible honour to be re-elected as the Member of Parliament for Peace River – Westlock and it’s something I never take for granted,” he says. “Thank you to the tireless volunteers who helped put up signs and get the vote out. Big thank you to my wife, Melissa and my family. I will continue to work hard for our communities and for all Albertans. I am humbled to once again take your priorities to Ottawa.”
First elected to parliament in 2015, Viersen has focused on a number of key issues, including defending firearm rights, championing resource development in Alberta, protecting Canadian freedoms, supporting families and ending human trafficking and child exploitation.
Viersen says he is excited to get back to work representing Albertans in Ottawa.
“I am looking forward to Parliament resuming so we can hold the Liberal government to account and champion common sense values for Canada,” says Viersen. “My number one priority has always been – and remains – to stand up for my constituents and represent their views in Ottawa. I will continue to fight for forestry, farming, small businesses and the oil and gas sectors that are the heartbeat of our communities. I will also fight for our way of life in northern Alberta and for the freedoms that we enjoy in Canada.”
Parliament will resume for its 45th session on May 26, with a Throne Speech from King Charles on May 27.
