Now that spring is in full swing and wildlife activity is increasing, residents in Woodlands County are being asked to report any sightings of wild boars.
Wild boars are an invasive species in Alberta and experts say they pose a significant risk to the environment and local economy.
Wildlife experts are asking residents to report sightings instead of hunting the boar because the animals are smart enough to learn how to evade hunting efforts and pass those talents on to subsequent generations.
Sightings can be reported through the EDDMapS app, by calling 310-FARM (3276) or by emailing wildboar@gov.ab.ca.
