The Whitecourt Fire Department and Alberta Wildfire responded to reports of a wildfire near the Hilltop East Industrial Park on Thursday, April 17.
Crews say they arrived on the scene just before 7:30 p.m. and found a wildfire approximately three hectares in size. Officials determined the fire did not pose a threat to people or property and crews had the blaze under control shortly after 8:30 p.m.
Whitecourt and area residents are reminded that a Fire Advisory was put in place for the Whitecourt Forest Area on Tuesday, April 15.

While backyard fires and campfires are still allowed under this advisory, officials are asking residents to practice extreme caution while burning.
