A Fire Advisory was put into effect for the Edson Forest area on Tuesday, April 16, including the Town of Edson and Yellowhead County.
Under this advisory, officials say existing permits are still valid; however, new permits will be granted on a case-by-case basis moving forward and heavy fuel permits will not be issued.
Backyard fires and campfires are still permitted but residents are asked to exercise extreme caution while burning.
Landowners and industry members who conducted burning over the winter are strongly encouraged to inspect the areas to ensure burn piles are fully extinguished.
