Officials with Whitecourt and Area Family and Community Support Services have provided additional details for National Volunteer Week events.
National Volunteer Week takes place from April 27 to May 3, providing an opportunity for residents to recognize and thank volunteers for the time and energy they commit to causes that benefit communities in and around Whitecourt.
As part of this year’s celebrations, officials say keynote speaker Alison Springer will be giving presentations to Grade 9 students at both high schools and will also be the guest speaker at the 2025 You’ve Been Great! Volunteer Celebration Lunch on Monday, April 28.
Springer is the Founder of Young Woman of Power (YWOP) and a Youth Communications Specialist based out of Calgary. She has co-written parts of the curriculum used in Junior High Schools throughout Western Canada and has developed and facilitated programs used in Calgary’s Youth Judicial System.
Whitecourt residents are encouraged to submit their nominations before the April 22 deadline.
