A former teacher from northern Alberta facing sex-related charges involving minors has been sentenced to 12 months in jail and 18 months of probation.
Brian Leroy Davison, 52, of Fort Assiniboine, AB, was sentenced in Edmonton Court of King’s Bench on Jan. 27, 2025, after being convicted on one count of sexual exploitation involving a person of trust.
He was previously found not guilty on Nov. 29, 2024, on another charge of sexual exploitation involving a person of trust and sexual interference.
The sentencing follows his trial in Hinton Court of King’s Bench last November.
Davison was initially charged with six counts, two charges each, stemming from three different incidents involving three different alleged victims.
He was previously sentenced in Hinton Court of Justice on Nov. 23, 2023, to two years in jail and ordered to pay a surcharge of $200 after being sentenced on one count of sexual interference with someone under 16, regarding an incident that took place at or near Edson, AB, sometime between Sept. 1, 2020, and Oct. 1, 2022.
Davison was also charged with sexual exploitation, and sexual assault, involving a female youth between the dates of Sept. 1, 2000, and July 1, 2001, at or near Swan Hills, AB.
He was also charged with sexual interference, and sexual assault, involving a second female youth between the dates of Sept.1, 2016 and July 1, 2017, at or near Edson, AB.
Davison also faced counts of sexual exploitation, and sexual assault, involving a third female youth between the dates of Sept. 1, 2018, and July 1, 2019, at or near Edson, AB.
Those charges were laid in January 2023 after RCMP previously charged Davison in December 2022, in relation to a fourth alleged victim between the dates of Sept. 1, 2020, and Oct. 1, 2022, at or near Edson, AB.
The series of investigations, however, began on Nov. 24, 2022, when Edson RCMP received a report of sexual interference involving a teacher. As a result of an investigation, on Dec. 7, 2022, Mounties arrested and charged Davison with three counts.
He was previously a teacher at Edson’s Ecole Pine Grove Middle School in the Grande Yellowhead Public School Division.
