Woodlands County has a new chief administrative officer (CAO) who will officially begin his duties in 2025.
Woodlands County council has appointed Matthew Ferris as the chief administrative officer for Woodlands County, who will officially assume his new responsibilities on Jan. 27, 2025.
According to county officials, Frerris has served in executive and municipal leadership roles for more than 15 years and has experience with a wide range of roles and responsibilities in supporting municipalities, with a particular focus on rural and remote communities.
Woodlands County reeve Dave Kusch, says Ferris was selected following an extensive selection process.
“Mr. Ferris brings the right combination of education, hands-on experience, and a proven track record in moving communities in a positive direction and we look forward to his contributions to Woodlands County,” says Reeve Kusch. “Council undertook a comprehensive executive search with support from Human Edge and we feel that Mr. Ferris is well qualified to lead our dedicated staff and manage the services and growth of Woodlands County responsibly.”
Ferris says he will continue to prioritize fiscal responsibility, strategic vision and community-driven decision-making during his time as CAO and is looking forward to joining the administrative team to continue the positive momentum they have built to enhance the community.
Council is also extending its gratitude to Paul Benedetto and Rod Hawken for their commitment to the county over the past year and thank them for assisting Ferris as he transitions to his new role.
